How BLAST Premier Works

BLAST Premier is practically a professional CS:GO circuit with its own rules and ranking system. Within it, there are 4 types of events. These events are linked, which means that succeeding in one will grant a team a ticket for another. In total, the circuit features 7 competitions: Spring Groups, Spring Showdown, Spring Finals, Fall Groups, Fall Showdown, Fall Finals, and World Final. The Fall events are a replica of the Spring events. If you’re familiar with esports like League of Legends, you probably understand this format quite well.

BLAST Premier Spring Groups

This is the first event in the BLAST Premier series. Its format is quite unusual: 12 teams divided into 3 groups that don’t interfere with each other. So it practically consists of 3 independent events that take place under the same name.

The format used by each group is double-elimination. Every match is a Bo3 series. The Grand Finalists from each group qualify for the Spring Finals. The remaining teams go to a different event for one last chance: Spring Showdown.

BLAST Premier Spring Showdown

This tournament features 16 teams and just like Spring Groups, consists of multiple independent events. The competitors are divided into 2 groups. Each group uses the single-elimination format. Its winner advances to the Spring Finals. Every match is Bo3.

BLAST Premier Spring Finals

This is, in effect, the Playoffs of the Spring Season of BLAST Premier. The event brings together 8 teams and gives them a chance to earn a lot of money and a lot of BLAST Premier points, which in turn are used to determine which teams qualify for the BLAST Premier World Final. The winner of Spring Finals gets a ticket to World Final regardless of how many points it has.

Spring Finals uses a double-elimination format. Every match is Bo3.

BLAST Premier World Final

This tournament features the best of the best and offers $1 million in prizes. A total of 8 teams participate in it and the action lasts for 6 days. Both the 2020 and 2021 editions were won by Natus Vincere.
